Sturla's New "Sensory Perception" Collection Has a Stellar Understanding of the World
Inspired by Tarsem’s Singh’s ‘The Cell’ and David Cronenberg’s ‘Existenz.’
Emerging London-based brand Sturla has just unveiled its new non-seasonal collection, showcasing both menswear and womenswear looks that draw inspiration from the process of sensory perception.
Sensory perception is the use of the senses to gain a better understanding of the world, with the process beginning when something in the real world stimulates the sense preceptors — this is a way in which humans can distinguish what is real and what’s not.
This process is encapsulated in the new collection from Sturla, with the garments exploring different ideas around reality, fantasy and the fine line between the two. Graphic prints are featured throughout the capsule — inspired by Tarsem’s Singh’s The Cell and David Cronenberg’s Existenz — with each vibrant graphic designed by Sturla’s close collaborator, Scott Jones.
The ideas of light touch sensation can be seen in Sturla’s tactile fabric selection for the new capsule, with the inclusion of orange seal neoprene that’s applied to lightweight ripstop. This is heightened further through the minimal colour palette consisting of only three colors: grey, orange and blue, presented in various shades that allow the focus to be on the textures.
Additionally, Sturla also welcomes further silhouettes, such as a new Curve Closure Hooded Jacket and Wrap Skirt, with the latter presented in a waterproof three-layer denim with fully tapes seams. Accessories round off the collection, with each style designed to highlight the organic forms referenced from Cronenberg’s Existenz.
You can take a closer look at the new Sturla collection above and it’ll be available to shop via the brand’s official website in the coming weeks.
