PLEATS PLEASE ISSEY MIYAKE To Open NYC Flagship Designed by MOMENT
Joining the ever-expanding roster of fashion labels staking claim in Manhattan’s Nolita neighborhood.
PLEATS PLEASE ISSEY MIYAKE is staking a new claim in New York City, with an all-new flagship in the heart of Manhattan’s Nolita’s neighborhood.
The new shopping locale, set to open on December 12, is situated on the corner of Elizabeth Street and Kenmare Street, alongside popular fashion shops like 18 East, Procell and Supreme. Entering the mix, PLEATS PLEASE will reside on the ground floor of architect Tadao Ando’s first New York City building, inside a 2,224-square-foot space designed by Japanese firm MOMENT.
At large, the design concept operates on a sharp grid, with steel-plated lighting rails running through the ceiling and molded resin walls modeled after the label’s signature pleating process. Elsewhere, concrete floors and walls backdrop the retail layout, which is filled with shiny white tabletops and rail structures to showcase products.
Notably, the new location will house an exclusive collection of pleated tops, skirts and dresses titled “SOIL & LEAF,” which will be available to shop upon opening.
