In celebrating its 75th anniversary, Onitsuka Tiger has revealed its first collaboration with Osamu Tezuka’s Astro Boy, which will also be celebrating its 100th anniversary. Its first animated adaptation was released in 1963, which marked the country’s first-ever full-length TV anime. Even today, Astro Boy remains to be an iconic piece of pop culture in Japan. With this collaboration, Onitsuka Tiger is bringing the original logo and designs of Astro Boy onto its extensive lineup. The collection comprises a total of 43 items, spanning tracksuits, shirts, hoodies, accessories and two footwear styles.

One of the centerpieces of the launch is the DENTIGRE PUFF BOOT and the MEXICO 66 SD sneakers. The former boasts the DENTIGRE’s usual chunky ankle-length silhouette, outfitted with distinctly voluminous outsoles. Dressed in a bold red, the boot also serves as a nod to the iconic red boots sported by the titular heroic robot. As for the MEXICO 66 SD, the model is offered three different color options. From a flaming red, asphalt gray, to a solid black, the shoes all feature a tonal palette. The red colorway is embellished with a flame design, while the remaining two styles are adorned with embroidered appliqué of Atom and Astro Boy logo.

The collection will be officially released globally across 12 countries starting January 15. In the meantime, it’s available at an exclusive pop-up in Ginza, Japan until January 31. From January 16 – February 14, another pop-up will take place in Paris. For more information, visit Onitsuka Tiger’s official website and social media channels.
