BMW continues the testing of its M Hybrid V8 Hypercar, for participation in the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) in 2024. During its most recent test at Spa-Francorchamps in Belgium, the BMW M Team WRT charted some valuable insights into the vehicles performance capabilities.

The tests were performed by a total of eight BMW M works drivers, who shared a variety of testing duties with both the M Hybrid V8 and the BMW M4 GT3 EVO. Seeing the most time behind the wheel of the M Hybrid were drivers Nick Yelloly and Marco Wittmann, particularly due to their experience from the race outings of the LMDh prototype in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship 2023.

Specific goals for the testing of the carbon-black M Hybrid included optimizing systems and performance, as well as allowing the team to further become acquainted with the intricacies of the complex hypercar.

Should further tests continue to prove as successful as this one at Spa-Francorchamps, the BMW M Team WRT  should have no trouble securing a qualifying spot in 2024.

Don’t want to wait until 2024? You can catch the WEC’s 6 Hours of Fuji, starting September 9, with participating hypercar teams including Cadillac Racing, Floyd Vanwall Racing Team, Porsche Penske Motorsport, Toyota Gazoo Racing and more.
