Concepts shared that the collection takes inspiration from the phrase “it’s all smoke and mirrors,” which originated from stage performers who used literal smoke and mirror tactics to excite the imagination of their audiences.
While today the term can often be used to describe deception, Concepts shared that its capsule instead takes on “the literal interpretation from the elements of smoke and mirrors–using suede, sublimated canvas and reflective highlights signifying the mirror aspects.”
Marking its 16th collaborative release with Vans, the “Smoke and Mirrors” pack brings with it great attention to detail and expert use of materials.
Some of the most notable design elements include the premium suede panels over the smoke-laden canvas upper, blue-tinted reflective elements on the inward-facing sides of the shoes and a premium black leather liner. All of these elements sit on top of pre-distressed outsoles that feature semi-translucent treads, also providing a smokey feel.
The Concepts x Vault by Vans “Smoke and Mirrors” pack is available now, September 8, at Concepts locations in Boston, New York and via its official site.
