Foot Locker Declined adidas YEEZY Restock Inventory Due to PR Concerns
Sticking to its claim that it wasn’t going to support Ye’s initiatives following his antisemitic remarks.
Update: Last month, rumors surrounding Foot Locker stocking upcoming adidas YEEZY releases got the ball rolling for the Three Stripes’ August restocks. However, after its first wave of drops, Foot Locker has notably not released any YEEZY product. Now, according to a report from Complex, insiders have noted that Foot Locker did indeed plan to sell YEEZY restock inventory, however, it ultimately decided against it due to potential backlash.
Original Story: Rumors are circulating that Foot Locker could be bringing back adidas YEEZYs starting as early as August 2023. Last October, the big box sportswear retailer claimed that it would cease all YEEZY sales after Ye’s partnership with adidas was terminated due to his antisemitic remarks. Following the event, Footwear News reported that a company-wide email was sent out to Foot Locker employees stating, “[Our company does] not tolerate any form of antisemitism, or hateful and discriminatory behavior. While we remain a partner with adidas and carry a wide assortment of their collections — we will not be supporting any future Yeezy product drops, and we have instructed our retail operators to pull any existing product from our shelves and digital sites.”
We could see a barrage of restocks going down throughout August. Some of the colorways that could potentially be dropped include the adidas YEEZY Slide in “Bone,” “Glow Green,” “Slate Grey” “Slate Marine” colorways as well as the adidas YEEZY BOOST 350 V2 in “Slate Onyx,” “Bone,” “Grey/Black,” “HyperSpace” and “Static Grey.”
Foot Locker hasn’t confirmed this information just yet, but expect the retail chain to announce more information within the upcoming weeks.
