Daft Punk Offers a Look Back at Creating Their Final LP With ‘Memory Tapes’
An interview series with collaborators such as Julian Casablancas, Pharell and more.
Daft Punk is celebrating the 10th anniversary of their final album, Random Access Memories. The now-defunct French electronic duo is looking back fondly on the making of the LP with interviews with artists that collaborated on the project.
The interview series is called Memory Tapes and were recorded during the process of creating the album via Daft Punk’s partnership with The Creators Project. Each artist spoke about their contribution to Random Access Memories at the time of making it. A decade later, the same artists reflect once again on their experience of the recording process and the overall impact that Daft Punk has had on their careers and on culture more broadly.
For the most part, the interviews were recorded at Henson Studios in Los Angeles and Gang Studios in Paris, the same spots Daft Punk recorded Random Access Memories with their collaborators. Interviews are accompanied by never-before-seen studio and archival footage.
Available on YouTube, the first episode of Memory Tapes with Julian Casablancas has already debuted, followed by an installment with Chilly Gonazales. Future episodes will feature Panda Bear, DJ Falcon, Todd Edwards, Pharrell Williams, Nile Rodgers and Paul Williams and Chris Caswell.
