Matthieu Blazy has officially dropped the Bottega Veneta Pre-Fall 2023 collection. Just a few weeks ago, Blazy dedicated the brand’s new fanzine to iconic super model Kate Moss. With the fanzine and having Moss walk the runway at his Spring/Summer 2023 show, it comes as no surprise that Moss’ cool stature and demeanor has always been an inspiration to the designer. On the runway, she sported a casual plaid shirt and jeans combo that set the tone for Blazy’s collections to come.

When it comes to Blazy’s Bottega Veneta for the Pre-Fall 2023 season, the designer continues to follow through with his effortlessly elegant aesthetic for the everyday person. His transformation of Bottega falls right on cue with the much talked about “quiet luxury” trend. The kind of cool that the collection oozes hinges on Blazy-fying traditional silhouettes. Long gone are the days of emblazoned branding and logos — instead, the collection focuses on craftsmanship and wearability.

Blazy’s Bottega is all about pieces that people truly want to wear themselves, but with a unique twist. For example. the designer re-envisions the classic boxy t-shirt and denim pencil skirt — as seen in the first look — constructing the pieces entirely of leather. Building volume through sculpting and layering continues to be major part of his creative process. Teddy overcoats featuring a leather undertone add an extra layer to the look, while blazers with exaggerated lapels continue to be an accent piece in the collection.

Taking Bottega’s iconic intrecciato weave, Blazy has applied the pattern on wardrobe staples including a full trouser and button-up shirt combo. Leather is and overarching theme for Pre-Fall 2023, pairing with cozy ensembles that dictate that overcoats are very much still in season for the classic, elegant everyday look.
