It’s been two years since Elon Musk officially unveiled plans for the Tesla Bot, a humanoid robot designed to perform general tasks for humans.

In a video presented during the most recent shareholder meeting event, which Musk claims the team put together the night before, Musk shows off how far the robots have come. The five prototype bots shown are all functional, pictured picking up and rotating objects and slowly walking in various environments. Fine motor torque control allows the robot arms to gently tap objects such as an egg without breaking them, environment discovery & memorization enables the robot to efficiently navigate its surroundings, and the team is currently working on having the bots accomplish increasingly complex tasks. While still a ways away from being ready for real-world application and production, the progress has been steady and encouraging.

Stay tuned for more updates in the near future as Tesla’s AI team continues to refine the technology.
