Warner Bros. Discovery Inc. is nearing a deal for a new series focusing on the world of J.K. Rowling‘s Harry Potter.

Two sources tell Bloomberg that each of the show’s seasons will “be based on” one of Rowling’s seven published books, and that the author will be involved in the creation process “to ensure it remains loyal to her original material” but will not serve as a showrunner. Warner Bros. and HBO CEOs David Zaslav and Casey Bloys were the ones supposedly responsible for convincing her to get on board with the series, however the deal has not officially been closed. Warner Bros. Discovery will also reportedly announce a new streaming strategy some time next week,

If the reports are true, this will mark the first TV series in the Harry Potter universe following the eight films, a stage play adaptation and a theme park attraction with Rowling’s seal of approval.

Stay tuned for more info.
