In celebrating the 30th anniversary of the Royal Oak Offshore this year, Audemars Piguet has confirmed that four new chronographs will be unveiled within 2023. One of which is the 26420CE, a revived model based on ref. 25770SN worn by Arnold Schwarzenegger in the 1999 action horror feature, End of Days.

François-Henry Bennahmias, AP’s CEO explains that the original collaboration also marked the beginning of the ongoing trend for the Maison to produce celebrity limited-timepieces. He elaborates, “The collaboration with Arnold Schwarzenegger for the Royal Oak Offshore End of Days in 1999 helped to put the collection on the map, especially in the street culture scene. For the 30th anniversary of the Offshore, it was an obvious choice for us to pay tribute to this iconic timepiece.”

The new time-teller is presented in a 43mm black ceramic case with matching push-pieces and a screw-locked crown, all in alternating satineé and polished finishings. This is accompanied by the eight signature screws on the octagonal bezel. Adorning the dial is the new Mega Tapisserie pattern complete with yellow accents that nods to the original 1999 model. Inside the timepiece runs AP’s 4401 self-winding flyback chronograph movement, which is also visible through the sapphire crystal caseback. On top of that, the new Offshore comes with a black calfskin strap that is crafted to emulate the look of woven textiles. The straps are finished with contrasting yellow topstitching that echoes the dial’s color scheme.

Limited to 500 units with the price upon request, the Royal Oak Offshore Selfwinding Chronograph End of Days Revival timepiece is said to cost around $60,300 USD according to Hodinkee. For more information regarding the timepiece, head over to Audemars Piguet’s official website.
