Official Look at Simon Brette’s Sold-Out Chronomètre Artisans Timepiece
“An ode to artisanal watchmaking.”
April 12, 9 a.m. ET marked Simon Brette’s independent horological debut, where the young watchmaker unveiled the Chronomètre Artisans — a truly special series that immediately sold out the moment it was released.
Before launching his eponymous Maison, Simon Brette has previously worked with Jean-François Mojon’s, the founder of Chronode SA, along with the likes of IWC, HYT, and MB&F. Because of these past experiences, Simon Brette’s company aims to be more than just an indie watch brand. Instead, the Maison is more like a collaborative horology project between artisans.
Touted as “an ode to artisanal watchmaking” on the brand’s official website, the Chronomètre Artisans is a time-only model starring a very embellished movement. Attired in a 39mm sized case made of incredibly lightweight yet durable zirconium alloy, a rose-golf dovetail motif can be spotted on the side as a symbol of the brand.
Boasting a harmonious balance between classic and modern design, the dial is framed by a silver-tone inner flange and is accentuated with an opaline finish. The base of the dial is doused in solid red gold, complete with a hand-engraved pattern that’s reminiscent of glitter specks and dragon scales. Although lavishly put together, the dial still feels very much like an extension of the movement.
Operating the time-teller is a contemporary, manual-winding chronometer movement, which is outfitted with double mainsprings to provide up to 72 hours of power reserve. Head over to Simon Brette’s official website to read more about the Chronomètre Artisans timepiece.
