Shane Gonzales and Vault by Vans Come Together for First Collaboration
Titled “Star Spangled Glamour.”
Adding to his lengthy lineup of collaborations, Shane Gonzales has now shared his first collaboration with Vans. Set to arrive next month, the team-up sees the design behind MIDNIGHT STUDIOS collaborate with Vault by Vans on a series of reimagined footwear styles.
Titled “Star Spangled Glamour,” the collection is comprised of three Vault by Vans silhouettes – the Old Skool VLT LX, Authentic Zip VLT LX, and Sk8-Hi Reissue Strap VLT LX. Gonzales applied his rock ‘n roll-fueled spin on the shoes, focusing on all-American motifs drawn from the signature aesthetic sensibilities of cowboy boots, denim jeans, and leather jackets. The utilization of chrome, denim, and leather throughout serves as an homage to the classic fashion that defined Sunset Boulevard, the iconic street in Hollywood, California.
Leading the Shane Gonzales x Vault by Vans “Star Spangled Glamour” collection is the Old Skool VLT LX dressed in premium black leather and marked with bold Western embroidery commonly found on cowboy boots. While the Authentic Zip VLT LX is designed to replicate the look of classic jeans, with a familiar indigo denim upper accented by hidden laces, chrome zippers, and buttons. Finally, rounding up the special range is the Sk8-Hi Reissue Strap VLT LX also constructed with black leather and outfitted with rider jacket details like collars, epaulets, and buckles.
“Collaborating with Vans is such a full circle moment for me. My friends and I grew up skating in Vans every day to and from school. Drawing on them, and thrashing them until they weren’t wearable anymore. When I got the opportunity to create my own collection, I wanted to reimagine the three Vans silhouettes that bring me back to my childhood, and incorporate timeless all-American motifs into the design that I know will wear beautifully over time,” said Shane Gonzales.
Priced between $130 and $185 USD, the Shane Gonzales x Vault by Vans “Star Spangled Glamour” collection will be available starting April 7 at the Vans Downtown Los Angeles location, at select retailers, and on the MIDNIGHT STUDIOS’ website.
