Edwin Taps Illustrious Album Artwork Creator Robert Beatty for a Prismatic T-Shirt Capsule
The Kentucky-based designer has made more than 100 album covers for the likes of Tame Impala, The Weeknd, Kesha and more.
Japanese fashion label Edwin has tapped Robert Beatty — a Lexington, Kentucky-based artist and musician known most prominently for his exceptional portfolio of modern album artwork — for a new capsule collection of graphic tops.
Beatty boasts an impressive resume with more than 100 record covers for the likes of Tame Impala, Kesha, The Flaming Lips, Oneohtrix Point Never, The Weeknd and many more. His illustrious work forms the basis of this collaboration, which includes four futuristic designs on green and blue T-shirts, a white long-sleeve and a black crewneck.
Among them, the artist flaunts his otherworldly creative perspective, with one design depicting a human’s silhouette with starry eyes in green and another featuring prismatic cones covered in globs of red slime. While each work is distinctly different, Beatty’s DNA visibly pumps through the entire range. His original pre-digital approach fuses old-school practices with new techniques, resulting in a series of “surreal images that are difficult to pin down,” as Edwin puts it.
The Edwin x Robert Beatty capsule collection is now available to shop at Edwin stores, select retailers and on the brand’s website. Take a look at the collection in the gallery above.
