Polimoda’s “A New Generation of Creators” Campaign Emphasizes Creative Synergy Between Students

The Pitti Uomo trade show in Florence serves as a celebration of both emerging and established talent, paying homage to the rich history of design in Italy. To honor past creators and inaugurate a new class of student designers, stylists, and creative directors from all around the world, Florence’s Polimoda Fashion School hosted its graduation show in June of 2022, Carpe Noctem. To show off the talent included in the presentation and to honor their work, Polimoda created a special photo campaign titled, “A New Generation of Creators,” featuring gifted students from many disciplines.

Carpe Noctem displayed over 100 distinctive looks across 24 collections, spotlighting a grand array of growing stars and showcasing their collaborative synergy. As the Polimoda Manifattura Tabacchi campus offers workshops within the realms of Fashion Design and Fashion Art Direction — providing students with necessary tools from sewing machines to spacious photo studios — it equips students with the resources for large scale projects, such as running their own professional fashion campaign.

Numerous collections included in “A New Generation of Creators” portrayed themes of sustainability and diversity while employing innovative methods such as upcycling, as young designers highlighted their values through a combination of menswear and womenswear, along with genderless pieces. Not only were designers showcased, but the photography campaign fostered collaboration between many different disciplines. Budding stylists, casting directors, set designers, and creative directors came together to put on a stunning spectacle and display the power of the next generation.

Featured designers included students Ayana Horai, Ana Valentina Navarro, Mohanad Kojak, Leonardo Brini, Viola Ruzza, Domenico Orefice, Ugo Ianaro, Margherita Bachis, and Sofia Ke. Styling students Paolo Convinto, Luca Piscitelli, and Elisa Nirta put striking looks together while styling student Francesco Giuliani stepped in for casting and Alessandro Mannelli photographed each of the looks. Students also had the opportunity to receive guidance from Serge Girardi, fashion editor and creative consultant, who helped bring their visions to life.

“A New Generation of Creators” brought forth the latest class of designers and tastemakers, which Polimoda will continue to shape for years to come. As the overall goal of the show and photo campaign is to develop students from a variety of disciplines to bring their work into the world, Polimoda is now preparing the class of 2023 for its Graduation show at the end of the academic year.
