Oris and Kermit the Frog Liven Up Watches & Wonders 2023
The Kermit-ified ProPilot X is joined by a carbon fiber composite Pro Pilot Altimeter.

“I’m green and it’ll do fine,” Kermit the Frog warbled on “Bein’ Green.” “It’s beautiful, and I think it’s what I want to be.” Everyone’s favorite frog probably wasn’t thinking of the horological world when he laid those sizzling bars down for the first time in season 1, episode 87 of Sesame Street, but, many years later, Kermit found his way to a watch — namely Oris‘ ProPilot X Calibre 400, the key launch from the brand’s Watches & Wonders 2023 lineup.
Kermit’s Oris features a bright green hue splashed across its entire face for a bold contrast with the watch’s silver casing and minimal style. In true playful fashion, however, there’s a fun Easter egg on the watch face. For 24 hours on the first day of every month, Kermit’s face spins into view under the 6 o’clock date dial for a pop of joy that’s sure to start the wearer’s month off on a high note. Besides Kermit, the watch features a classic knurled crown and bezel, a titanium bracelet and plenty of water resistance. “Really, the purpose of an Oris watch is to make people smile. That’s it,” said Oris creative director Ken Laurent. “And with the ProPilot X Kermit Edition, there’s nothing else to it. Ok, yes, it’s powered by a brilliant movement, and the case design is spectacular, but the function of this watch is really simple: to bring joy.”
For all the serious performance without the playful aspect, Oris also released a new take on the ProPilot Altimeter. Originally introduced in 2014, the ProPilot Altimeter was the first mechanical watch to include a similarly mechanical altimeter. This time around it has a slimmer profile, 3D-printed carbon case and an updated altitude function. There’s a 56-hour power reserve, up significantly from the original’ 38-hour power reserve, and the tech allows for accurate altitude readings up to 19,700 feet. The altimiter is also available in meters, but whatever you prefer there’s a handy conversion chart on the back of the case as well. A green fabric strap with a brown leather lining completes the look.
The Oris ProPilot X Kermit Edition will retail for $4,600 USD, while the ProPilot Altimeter will retail for $6,500 USD. Hit the Oris webstore to learn more.
