In the lead-up to the release of his new album UGLY, following January’s “Selfish,” slowthai has dropped a second song from the project called “Feel Good.”

Featuring backup vocals from another London staple, Shygirl, the track isn’t necessarily about being happy-go-lucky. Rather, slowthai uses the song as a platform to muse on the need for a serotonin boost that’ll give him an uptick in energy and turn the day around.

Debuting alongside a video directed by slowthai’s longtime collaborator THE REST, the artist traveled to visit some of his most loyal fans in person to catch their reaction to hearing the song for the first time. Out of thousands of applicants, 35 fans across the country were selected, with slowthai surprising them at home or in school.

UGLY features production from Dan Carey, Kwes Darko, Zach Nahome and Sega Bodega. Instrumentals and backup vocals come from an eclectic lineup of musicians, including Ethan P. Flynn, Shygirl, Jacob Bugden, Liam Toon, Jockstrap’s Taylor Skye and Irish post-punk band Fontaines D.C.

“It doesn’t matter what or who people think you are, you’ve just got to stay true and respect yourself,” slowthai said about the album. “I have UGLY tattooed on my face because it’s a reminder to love myself, rather than put myself down constantly or feel the impression people have of me should determine who I am as a person.”

Wanting his hardcore fans to be able to see him perform live without financial restraint, slowthai will also be heading on a pub tour across the U.K. where tickets for each show are priced at just £1 GBP. A pre-sale for the tour opens on February 13, followed by a sale for the general public on February 15.

Stream slowthai’s “Feel Good” and watch the music video above. UGLY is out for release on March 3.
