In May of 2019, Pokémon Sleep was first announced as a follow-up to the Pokémon GO craze. Now, it has been officially revealed as part of today’s Pokémon Presents for Pokémon Day 2023.

Focusing on assisting trainers in getting a good night’s sleep, the adventure takes place on a small island where players will work with Professor Neroli and Snorlax to study the sleep styles of Pokémon. By placing a smartphone by one’s pillow when going to sleep, data analysis will take place to record, measure and categorize the user’s rest. Higher scores are obtained by sleeping longer, increasing the amount of Pokémon that will appear around Snorlax. Sleep categorization is broken up into three main categories — dozing, snoozing and slumbering. Pokémon who sleep in similar ways will be more likely to appear with rarer styles to discover on the journey.

Aiding the process, an optional Pokémon GO Plus + device has been created. By using Bluetooth Low Energy technology, it links with Pokémon Sleep for data capture. A Pikachu within the device can sing lullabies and act as an alarm while growing friendlier and unlocking new sounds over time. In addition, it is compatible with Pokémon GO, offering automatic functions that catch Pokémon and spin PokéStops similar to the original Pokémon GO Plus.

After four years of waiting, fans can now look forward to Pokémon Sleep releasing this summer via iOS and Android devices. In addition, the Pokémon GO Plus + device will be available on July 14.

For more of the latest gaming news, Hogwarts Legacy’s sales numbers have been revealed, earning over $850 million USD in its first two weeks.
