The rich collaborative history between atmos and adidas dates back to the early 2000s. Together, the duo has made numerous deliveries of striking footwear and apparel team-ups. This season, they’re about to further expand their catalog with a new sneaker: the atmos x adidas ZX8000 “Mash Up.” As indicated by its nickname, this latest pair takes a “What The” approach and borrows elements from numerous atmos x adidas ZX8000 colorways that have been released in the past.

Starting with the bold pops of blue that are dropped off along the midsole pieces and heel counters, these are ripped right from the two parties’ “TJ” iteration released last year and their OG G-SNK makeup from 2011. Quarter panels have equipped with pleated yellow backdrops and green Three Stripes branding to mimic their glow-in-the-dark variation from 2020 while the bold orange forefoot overlays and laces nod to a “Germany” ZX8000 — one of the model’s OG styles that was resissued in last year.

Detailed shots of the pair can be viewed in the gallery above. It’s important to note that this release is exclusive to Japan, and if you’re interested in copping, atmos’ raffle is open through February 17. The retail price is set at ¥17,600 (approx. $132 USD).

For other news, former Nike designer Nathan VanHook was named the new Vice President of adidas Basketball Footwear.
