IWC Brings Back the Markus Bühler Big Pilot’s Watch

After an alluring collaboration with Lewis Hamilton for a teal-colored Portugieser, IWC now readies a long-awaited successor of its Markus Bühler Big Pilot’s Watch.

Aptly named the Big Pilot’s Watch 43 Tourbillon Markus Bühler Re-Edition, the new timepiece is limited to 51 examples and is integrated with a turbine design over its flying minute tourbillon. Presented in a 43mm polished platinum case, which frames a black and glossy dial that’s embellished with rhodium-plated hands and indices. The highlight of the watch face is the turbine located at the 6 o’clock mark, where the state-of-the-art tourbillon is caged inside the lightweight titanium alloy.

Speaking on this redesigned timepiece, Markus Bühler says “When I created my Big Pilot’s Watch with a turbine as an apprentice watchmaker, I would never have imagined I would lead the development of a second edition 15 years later – let alone that I would be responsible for all assembly processes at IWC.” He also explains how the new iteration “perfectly embodies IWC’s engineering spirit,” while also demonstrating “the highest levels of detail and craftsmanship” as a response to meet their collectors’ high expectations.

Beating at the core of the timekeeper is the IWC-manufacture 82905 caliber, which boasts a frequency of 28,800 hourly vibrations, and a power reserve of up to 80 hours. The movement and the turbine are both viewable through the unobstructed exhibition caseback.

Completing the Markus Bühler Big Pilot’s Watch is a black Cordovan leather strap, which features Markus Bühler’s signature on the inner side. Visit IWC’s official website to enquire about its price and availability.
