Blue Bottle Coffee is officially launching its first Studio residency in the U.S. Giving fans an immersive coffee experience, the project is under the creative direction of the company’s founder James Freeman. Together with Blue Bottle’s Global Head of Innovation, Benjamin Brewer, the Studio represents the company’s particular perspective on the pinnacle of specialty coffee through an eight-course tasting menu.

Making its way to Los Angeles, the Blue Bottle Studio residence is set to feature coffee sourced from long-time Blue Bottle producers — including Gesha microlot from Panama’’ Finca Deborah, a Wush Wush from Colombia’s Eco Farm La Cereza, Aljidan X1 from Yemen’s Qima Coffee and an extremely limited California Gesha from Frinj Coffee in Goleta. The coffee tasting experience by the Studio gives guests a change to taste certain coffee leaves, flowers, cherries and roasted coffee through a refined brewing process. The Studio’s debut was in Kyoto, Japan last spring in an intimate four-seat cafe.

In tandem with the Los Angeles experienced, pastry chef Kiyoshi Tsukamoto from LA has developed two pastries that are expected to enhance the flavors of the coffee used during the experience. The Studio experiences are expected to take on certain similarities from its Hong Kong and Kyoto chapter from earlier this year. In Los Angeles, the Studio experience is designed in collaboration with wrk-shp and Capsule Manufacturing for the modest, eight-seat space. The space features a custom brass bar and vintage furniture that can be transported to the next destination. The environment also features a vintage stereo selected by audio specialist Benjamin Brinkman, playing records chosen by James, Benjamin and other Studio baristas for the ambiance. The Studio’s tasting menu is exclusive to the Los Angeles space for a limited time only.

Blue Bottle Studio Los Angeles is open from now until November 5, opening Wednesday through Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. for three seatings at 10 a.m., 12 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. Each Studio experience is 90 minutes and operates on a reservations only basis for $75 USD a person. To make a reservation, visit the website or Explore Tock.
