Following her ultra-functional collaboration with Reebok, recognized designer Nicole McLaughlin is now teaming up with Diemme for a utilitarian footwear collab that continues her upcycling journey. McLaughlin has made a name for herself through her innovative format of repurposing everyday household staples, such as turning candy pouches into shorts or tennis balls into oven mittens.

The inventive creative continues her practice alongside Diemme by making the brand’s Maggiore silhouette her own with forgotten materials found in Diemme’s footwear factories.

Arriving with one base and three detachable uppers, the concealed layer is a simple suede mule that boasts a wavy linear pattern throughout. Tonal zippers run through the mudguards and into the medials, allowing the upper half to be attached easily.

The collaborative release comes equipped with blue, beige, and green uppers made from waterproof ripstop designed to be completely removable. These convert into serviceable bags to carry your personal items everywhere you go. Each textile features metallic clasps and toggles in place of traditional laces, while additional knobs adorn the rears for a smooth ride.

Take a closer look at Nicole McLaughlin’s Diemme Maggiore at every stage in the gallery above. The collaboration will be available to purchase on January 18 via the Diemme website.
