First Look at the Nike Air Max 97 “나이키 2002”
A classic colorway with a Korean spin.
2002 may be a distant memory for many of us or perhaps a void of unconsciousness to others. For those of us who can remember, it was in that year that Tom Brady, the NFL’s Benjamin Button, won his first Super Bowl against the then-St. Louis Rams. Similarly on the topic of sport, the FIFA World Cup first kicked off in Asia through a joint hosting by Japan and South Korea.
Speaking on the latter, Nike is dialing it back to reintroduce the timeless Air Max 97 in a “나이키 2002” iteration. “나이키” simply means Nike in Korean, and while not entirely clear as to the 2002 callout, football fans will be quick to think of the World Cup and Ronaldo Lima’s incredible hairstyle from that year, along with Ronaldinho’s majestic floater over the entire England squad.
Back on the sneaker — the upper is made from a stylish blend of pure platinum and wolf gray suede, along with white mesh along the base. Rounding the shoe out are supple hits of light blue on the Swoosh, tongue and heel tab atop a white rubber outsole with an Air unit.
The Nike Air Max 97 “나이키 2002” does not have a price or release date as of yet, but you can expect the sneaker to drop in the coming months. Keep up with all things Nike by downloading the SNKRS app.
