Park Chan-wook’s 'Oldboy' To Receive US Theatrical Release
Just in time for its 20th anniversary.

Park Chan-wook‘s classic film Oldboy is hitting US theaters soon for its 20th anniversary.
NEON recently acquired the US distribution rights to the 2003 film, with Variety adding that the company’s plans to play it in theaters will mark Oldboy’s first return to cinemas since its initial premiere. A premiere date, however, has not been set.
Oldboy follows the story of Choi Min-sik’s character Oh Dae-Su, a businessman who finally gets released after being kidnapped and locked up for 15 years. He then manages to catch the person who captured him, but must figure out why he was kidnapped in the first place. Dae-Su is given five days to find the answer, or else his captor will kill his love interest — a young chef named Mi-do, portrayed by Kang Hye-jung.
The film went on to become 2003’s fifth-highest grossing film in South Korea, and was nominated for the Palme d’Or and won the Grand Prix at the 2004 Cannes Film Festival.
Elsewhere in entertainment, the third season of Netflix’s Conversations With a Killer will focus on Jeffrey Dahmer.
