Aligning with trendy collaborative partners and pushing the right silhouettes has paid off for New Balance in recent years. Once the brand finds that a model resonates with the masses, it goes all in on that shoe and keep its releases coming consistently. One example is the New Balance 2002R which has had quite the eventful 2022 in terms of new launches, and it has just been unveiled in a new “Rust Oxide” colorway.

The palette of this latest iteration is reflective of the upcoming Autumn season. Mesh underlays and buttery suede overlays are prepared with its titular tone, while the overlays that hug the toe boxes and collars are done up in a darker orange hue. Slivers of silver poke out through the N logos and the heels for added flair as well. Down below, the midsole piece comes split between creamy heels and angelic mid-foot/forefoot sections while the exposed foam units on the rear are dyed in a dark orange. These aren’t quite as playful or hyped as Salehe Bembury’s “Peace Be The Journey” makeup from 2020, but they could be a good consolation prize.

Look for New Balance and other retailers to launch these in the coming weeks for $140 USD.

Additionally, check out the recent New Balance 2002R “Calm Taupe” installment.
