As part of Nike’s constant effort of revisiting the past while designing the future, the Air Kukini made its return in 2022. Initially launching in 2000, the model was introduced by the Nike Alpha Project. This now-retired division of the Swoosh emphasized athletes and innovation with results such as the Air Presto making a lasting impression on the footwear scene of today. So far, Nike has not been afraid to dress the eclectic Air Kukini in a variety of bold looks such as leopard print and a “Lemon Venom” gradient. Now, it arrives in a “Paint Splatter” makeover.

In “Paint Splatter,” the neoprene base of the upper opts for black with seemingly random splotches of paint in various colors landing throughout. From there, black hits the nubuck overlays and the Air Kukini’s signature web-like semi-translucent TPU cage. The primarily white midsole provides contrast alongside white branding elements on the tongue and sole while black continues at the Air unit and rubber outsole, completing the look.

Expect the Air Kukini “Paint Splatter” to hit shelves in the coming months via Nike and select retailers at a price of $120 USD.

In case you missed it, a “Koi” Air Max 97 is on the way.
