Nicolas Cage Plays Nicolas Cage for Casablanca FW22

Charaf Tajer‘s Casablanca has worked its way to the top of the fashion food chain, becoming a figure on the Paris Fashion Week schedule and a staple name in many of our wardrobes by the way of its New Balance collaborations, and now it celebrates its Fall/Winter 2022 collection with a campaign fronted by none other than Nicolas Cage.

Joined by two of fashion’s most in-demand names, Alton Mason and Anok Yai, Cage can be seen wearing the latest collection from Casablanca in a campaign shot by Hugo Comte. Hollywood glamor meets the early conceptual paintings of American artist Eric Fischl, delivering saturated hues that depict an alternate suburbia drenched in a hedonistic and satirical undertone that comments on one’s dreams.

Speaking on the campaign, Tajer says, “Los Angeles is an important city for me, and I wanted to create a Hollywood moment between models I love, like Alton [Mason], who is a dear friend of mine, and Anok [Yai], who I truly love and think is one of the most beautiful women in the world. Then there’s the icon that is Nicolas Cage. Hugo and I are also good friends and we’ve wanted to work together for a long time, so this felt like the perfect time and place to do it.”

Comte adds, “We revisited the Hollywood heritage with our own life stories, mixing opulence and romance to create timeless images out of the fashion scope, with a universal vocabulary of pop culture.”

The result is a campaign that feels true to Casablanca, snapshotting the brand in its own period as a zeitgeist of pop culture and stardom, subsequently echoing the choice to cast Cage, who has recently started to grow a love for the brand — in turn making him an authentic choice for Casablanca.
