Maison Margiela has unveiled its Fall/Winter 2026 campaign titled “ANONYMITY,” framed as a trailer for a fictional psychological thriller starring British actress Rebecca Hall. Exploring the house’s foundational theme of masked identity, the cinematic narrative follows Hall coming face-to-face with a masked doppelgänger wearing identical looks paired with unique Artisanal masks created in the Paris atelier. Drawing inspiration from the atmosphere of the house’s FW26 Shanghai show – where models navigated stacked shipping containers in flea-market-inspired attire – the campaign leans into Margiela’s long-standing cinematic language to challenge notions of self and character.
The accompanying collection introduces a complex study in material transformation, featuring Edwardian silhouettes, destroyed tapestries, second-skin jersey pairings, and fused garments with intentionally unrefined, excess fabric. Standout pieces include fluid shift dresses in furniture-style tapestry, Bianchetto white-painted cracked skirts, chopped-off tailcoats, and intentionally ill-fitted, nibbled knitwear. The footwear line updates the signature Tabi in floral tapestry prints alongside the second-skin Tabi Claw, while leather goods debut the new Link bag – inspired by archival round vintage coin purses – alongside vacuum-formed leather chain jewelry and ceramic-corner Box bags.
The Maison Margiela FW26 collection releases globally today
online, across flagship boutiques and authorized retailers such as HBX.
