When James Whitner and his imprints under The Whitaker Group engage in collaborative projects, they lock in and give every detail its due diligence. Social Status is one of the brands that will be taking on another initiative with Nike this year, and it involves two colorways of the Nike Air Max Penny 1. Two colorways are involved in this capsule, both of which have now been officially unveiled.
Social Status still has yet to brief us on the full story behind these installments, but there are definitely a few striking elements about the shoes that speak to sports activities and education. Various velcro-backed Swooshes come packaged with the kicks, all of which are symbolic of a certain sport such as baseball, basketball, tennis and golf to shine a light on the importance of being active. If you peek inside the shoes, you’ll notice that they’ve been printed with cursive chalkboard text that features the sentence “the quick brown fox jumped over the lazy dog” which is a handwriting exercise that integrates all of the letters in the alphabet. Additional details of the shoes that are worthy of mentioning include the co-branded insignias that arrive on the rear, striped pull tabs and the special shoe boxes and tissue paper.
