The London-based ex-Gucci designer Gergei Erdei is known for, as he puts it, “bringing the joie de vivre spirit of the ’70s in your home,” and his latest “HERCULANEUM” homeware collection promises exactly this.

Releasing a range of interior decorations for the table, lounging, and walls, Erdei’s pieces are evocative of the Italian Riviera and Palm Beach, serving a sun-drenched collection that’s sure to bring warmth and a touch of kitschiness to your home. Motifs are antique in style, incorporating florals and sealife on plates alongside cushions informed by the Renaissance period and Roman mosaics, and everything comes together to blur the lines between art and functional homeware.

The ruins of Herculaneum — a historic town in today’s Ercolano, Campania, Italy — play with stripes remiscent of parasols lining the Amalfi coast on table cloths, while crystal glassware is sophisticated and contrasts the playful ’70s crockery for a vibe akin to a bustling dinner party filled with socialites.

Speaking on the collection, Erdei said: “I designed the ‘HERCULANEUM’ SS22 collection to a soundtrack of ’60s and ’70s Italian classics from Patty Pravo and Mina and Loredana Berte. Their joyful spirit inspired a certain nostalgia for the Italian Riviera during this glorious period. I wanted to create something very uplifting, evocative and colorful yet easy to combine with my previous designs. I love the sketch style prints on the placemats and table cloth create an artistic background with the crystal glasses and my hand-painted terracotta plates.”

Gergei Erdei’s stunning collection can be seen in the gallery above and bought from the designer’s website now.

In other news, WOW concept has opened its first store.
