Nike Is Bringing Back the Air Kukini
The 2000s runner has been revealed in a new “Summit White/Aviator Grey” colorway.

First debuted in the year 2000 as part of Nike‘s Alpha Project and designed by Sean McDowell, the Air Kukini is slated to make its glorious return. It’s certainly an unorthodox type of silhouette given the intricate details that span across its upper, but in today’s sneaker world where Balenciaga x Crocs to Imran Potato’s feet-inspired shoes are accepted and even coveted, these certainly fit right in with the current footwear trends. It also hasn’t been too long since we’ve seen this model appear as Stüssy reworked the model with a Spiridon 2 bottom back in 2020.
The first colorway of the 2022 lineage to be unveiled is the “Summit White/Aviator Grey” variation. Futuristic TPU cages — which are inspired winter tech imprint Spyder — arrive with a translucent look and wrap around “Mystic Navy” uppers that are printed with psychedelic patterns. “Summit White” accents sit adjacent and cover the overlays across the toe tips and heels. Down below, the midsoles are mostly covered in white and come built with an exposed Air unit that’s bordered by more “Mystic Navy” accents.
Expect more colorways to pop up in the near future and for Nike to release these in the coming months for $135 USD.
In other news, a Jackie Robinson-inspired Dunk Low is releasing.
