On April 15, 1947, Jackie Robinson became the first African American baseball player to ever play for the MLB. Despite the abuse from fans, opponents, and even his own team, Robinson was an immediate success on the field and was selected as Rookie of the Year. Two years later, he was voted as the league MVP and went on to cement his legacy, leading the Dodgers to six league championships and a World Series victory with a .311 career batting average.

The upcoming “Jackie Robinson” pairs arrive on the 75th-anniversary of Robinson’s debut featuring special commemorative elements including Dodgers Blue overlays and insoles that display the quote, “I’m not concerned with your liking or disliking me. All I ask is that you respect me as a human being.”

Robinson’s #42 is printed on the lateral heel, and a logo that reads “75 Years Breaking Barriers” is found on the tongue tab. Swoosh motifs are featured in felt along the laterals and in embroidery on the toebox, and laces arrive in baseball stitching patterns. Below, a White midsole and Black rubber outsole complete the design.

Look for the Nike Dunk Low “Jackie Robinson” to arrive this April at Nike’s website and select retailers.

Elsewhere in footwear, Nike’s Dunk Low arrives with stacked glitch swooshes.
