Nike SB's New Dunk High Honors the "New York Mets"
Complete with distinct embellishments in relation to the MLB team.
Succeeding the debut of its collaboration hiking boot-inspired sneaker with PASS~PORT, Nike SB looks to bring out the Dunk High in a series of MLB colorways, starting off with a “Mets” throwback palette. The sportswear powerhouse’ skateboarding line first previewed a Dunk Low in a Philadelphia Phillies color scheme based on the team’s sky blue and maroon uniforms from the ’80s.
Instagram page Solebyjc has blessed us with teaser images of the latest hi-top edition outfitted in the baseball team’s gray away games uniform. Light gray padded mesh builds out the base as matching fuzzy suede overlays wrap around the shoe while the laces prefer a blue-toned gray hue. The Mets’ signature blue and orange detail the sockliner, tongue tab, and main lateral Swoosh in a stitched outline manner to resemble jersey patches.
Over on the backside of the tongues feature a purple circle with the number seven to indicate the 7-train connecting Willets Point Blvd. station to both Flushing Main St. and Hudson Yards. On the right foot, a red apple with the Mets skyline logo reads “Home Run” to represent the home stadium’s giant apple that appears when a player taps all the bases after hitting a no-doubter. A white midsole rounds out the look with a gum outsole hit with a touch of pink at the heel.
Further information on the Nike SB Dunk High “New York Mets” has yet to be announced in the coming weeks, but will likely release this year via Nike.
