Mache Serves Up a Fresh New Balance 57/40 Collab in Honor of National Pizza Day
The custom sneaker artist plays off of the colors of a delectable pie and a checkered tablecloth.
Dan Gamache — better known as “Mache” on social media — has been creating insane custom sneakers for athletes, celebrities and sneakerheads since 2002. Born and bred in New York and now residing in Connecticut, the crafty creative is paying homage to the places by delivering a playful New Balance 57/40 colorway inspired by National Pizza Day.
For this delectable installment, Mache translates the traditional ingredients that you’d find on a fresh pie and slaps them onto the chunky New Balance silhouette. Suede overlays across front and near the throat, along with the squiggly midsole molds on the rear channel the look of a perfectly toasted crust while the red accents integrated on the tongues, heel overlays and liners are symbolic of marinara sauce. In fact, a tiny droplet of red adorns the forefoot section of the midsole to create a “spill” effect. Moreover, green hit show face towards the higher parts of the heel and around the N logos to call out the fresh veggies that top off the perfect slice, and the insoles are decorated with the designer’s moniker and an image of a cheesy pizza.
Foot Locker and Champs will be dropping these in men’s sizes only come February 11 for $130 USD.
