Dr. Martens Equips Its 1460 Boot and 1461 Shoe With Techy Webbing Straps and Buckles
While also adding heavy-duty rubber toe caps, mudguards, and heels.
Dr. Martens needs no introduction. Known for its 1460 boot and 1461 shoe, the heritage brand has a storied legacy that’s supplied footwear to the masses for years, rarely steering away from the grain and instead opting to focus on quality and tradition, and no matter what, everything it does is always underpinned by its proprietary bouncing AirWair sole units. However, that was until the brand dropped its latest offering, equipping the 1460 and 1461 with a techy update.
Looking like a would-be 1017 ALYX 9SM collaboration, the 1460 Tech Boot and 1461 Tech Shoe are actually mainline creations that come as part of Dr. Martens’ Made in England series, yet come with a hard-wearing and technical update that brings the shoes into the contemporary streetwear realm.
Regardless of the style, both pairs are fitted with a leather and suede split upper in black alongside a toe bumper and mudguard that’s made from durable grained rubber, giving the pairs a workwear aesthetic. Contrasting white stitching replaces the brand’s usual yellow stitching on the upper and around the midsole, while more white hits up eyelets — and of course, there’s the unmissable buckle.
The snap buckle is made using a webbing nylon strap and plastic hardware, coming out of the mudguard and over the mids and tongue to the other side. While this offers no extra functionality, it sure does make the 1460 and 1461 look incredibly tech-focused and utilitarian.
Both pairs can be seen in the gallery above and bought from retailers such as Sevenstore now. The 1461 Tech Shoe retails for $328 USD, while the 1460 Tech Boot comes in at $357.50 USD.
