'NieR: Automata Ver1.1a' Anime Will Premiere in January 2023
Key voice cast and production staff revealed.
The latest promotional trailer for NieR: Automata Ver1.1a has confirmed the anime’s official broadcasting date, voice actor list, and key production staff. Based on PlatinumGames and Square Enix’s award-winning action RPG game, Nier: Automata, the series will be co-produced by Square Enix and Aniplex, with A-1 Pictures heading the animation.
Based on the scenes as shown in the latest trailer, the anime appears to follow the premise and general plot progression of its source material. It will be directed by Ryouji Masuyama, who previously worked as the assistant director on Great Pretender, as well as a key animator for large-scale titles such as Evangelion: 3.0+1.0: Thrice Upon a Time and Studio Ghibli’s The Borrower Arrietty.
As for the anime cast, Yui Ishikawa (Mikasa Ackerman, Attack on Titan) will be the voice for 2B, and Natsuki Hanae (Tanjiro Kamada, Demon Slayer) will play 9S. Other cast members include Ayaka Suwa as A2m, Chiaki Kanou as Commander, Hiroki Yasumoto as Pod 042, Kaoru Akiyama as Pod 153, Aoi Yuki as Pascal, Daisuke Namikawa as Adam, and Tatsuhisa Suzuki as Eve.
The NieR: Automata Ver1.1a anime series will premiere on January 7, 2023, across main television channels in Japan. It’ll also be available to stream domestically on platforms such as Hulu, Prime Video, and Bandai channel. The anime is also scheduled for international release in over 160 countries and regions, but no official dates have been confirmed as of yet.
