"The Great Wave" Comes to Life in LEGO Brick Form
Hokusai’s masterpiece is accompanied by a bespoke building soundtrack.

With a growing AFOL (adult fan of LEGO) population, LEGO has continued to experiment with new ideas and themes. One such style that has been met with high demand is the brand’s LEGO Art line. In just over two years of the theme’s existence, we’ve been offered a mere glimpse at its potential with 2022’s LEGO recreation of Vincent Van Gogh’s The Starry Night paving the way for classic pieces to exist in LEGO brick form. Now, another famous artwork has been assembled in LEGO pieces, Hokusai’s The Great Wave.
Appearing with a three dimensional style similar to The Starry Night’s set, Hokusai’s internationally adored piece has been masterfully recreated by LEGO. Its stormy seascape pairs with a snowy Mount Fuji in a presentation that is more art than it is toy. Hosukai’s signature is printed on a decorative tile to further replicate the original artwork’s magic while a brick-built frame offers a smooth finish with two hanger elements included in the build to decorate any wall. A premium instruction booklet featuring details about Hokusai’s art and is joined by an official bespoke LEGO soundtrack designed to accompany the building process. Measuring 20.5 inches tall and 15.5 inches wide, this set is sure to be enjoyed by art and LEGO fans alike.
Hokusai’s The Great Wave arrives in the world of LEGO on January 1 via LEGO stores worldwide with the 1,810 piece set costing $100 USD.
