PUMA Celebrates LaMelo Ball's Rookie of the Year Award With the MB.02 "ROTY"
Packed with details that nod to Ball’s explosive debut.
While LaMelo Ball continues to take his game to the next level, PUMA and the PUMA Hoops team have looked back on his bold debut in the NBA with its latest MB.02 colorway. The silhouette first debuted in October and continues to serve as Ball’s second signature project with PUMA.
For this “Rookie of the Year” colorway, the Charlotte Hornets’ light blue outfits the base of the sneaker while a darker blue covers Ball’s signature wings. Additional ties to his team appear at the upper’s film, which is presented with a honeycomb pattern that nods to the team’s Hornets nickname as well as the laces which reference the Hornets’ classic pinstripe jersey. As for its references to Ball, the heel webbing lists key statistics from his rookie year, including the 15.7 points, 5.9 rebounds and 6.1 assists per game that he averaged. Lastly, the sockliner features a flip of the NBA logo that sees Ball as the silhouette with “ROTY” text.
The launch of LaMelo Ball’s PUMA MB.02 “Rookie of the Year” is scheduled for December 9 at 10am EST via PUMA and select PUMA Hoops retailers at a price of $130 USD.
