Nouveau Project Launches Its Sophomore "Pronaos" Collection
The latest cuts from the emerging label.
NOUVEAU PROJECT is an emerging brand looking to combine traditional fashion with technical functional clothing and military uniforms in a mission to rekindle the relationship between humans and various natural scenes. The label was named after the international Art Nouveau movement, distinguishable via its undulating asymmetrical line and defined by its deliberate attempt at creating a new style, breaking down the distinction between fine arts and applied arts.
Following its first experimental project titled “Embryo,” NOUVEAU PROJECT now produces its latest Fall/Winter 2022 collection “Pronaos,” referring to the open porches under the front columns of ancient Greek buildings. Building upon traditional techniques, the largely black and earth-toned pieces take inspiration from nature, the weather, and architecture, with materials chosen to reflect the texture of mountains and bark. Select pieces are modular, featuring clever paneling which combines hand-dyed and breathable fabrics with traditional Japanese kendo threads. Shoulder-vent cuts inspired by vintage biker jackets are further refined with distinct back-vent cuts lined in piping accents that highlight the distinct contours.
