Backstage With Matthew M Williams for Givenchy SS23
Taking a look behind-the-scenes moments before the collection hit the runway.
Over the weekend, Givenchy creative director Matthew M Williams debuted his Spring/Summer 2023 collection for the house. While the runway gives audiences a first glimpse of what to expect for the upcoming season, Hypebeast takes to just moments before the show to give a backstage up-close look at some of the pieces.
While fans were able to see Williams’ full concept come to life in a Parisian park alongside VIP invitees like Ye, Karlie Kloss and Amelia Gray, fashion enthusiasts can get a chance to dissect the pieces in this series of backstage first-look photos. The womenswear collection stayed true to Williams’ athletic undertones, bridging the sporty and casual look with elegant formalwear. When it comes down to details, Williams is not one to miss as seen in the sequenced bomber jackets, the feathered gowns and technical-focused accessories.
Williams continues to take streetwear cues for his collections at Givenchy, however, he provides an elevated aesthetic change that is perpetuated by his keen eye for high fashion and luxury. The first-look images showcase the detailed metal straps on the dresses and for those with a keen eye, a closer look at the crystal embellishments and beading that is seen on evening gowns and more. Fans get a first-row look at the craftsmanship used throughout the collection to create Williams’ distinctive Givenchy silhouette for the SS23 collection.
