Following out of favor in recent years, NikeLab 21 Mercer in New York City’s SoHo is now set to close next year, according to reports. Serving one of the sportswear giant’s main sneaker boutique locations and a special activation space in the past, the 21 Mercer, which opened in 2008, served as an integral part of sneaker culture in New York. Though the destination for sneakerheads has fallen out of favor with the nearby opening of Nike SoHo in 2016.

Reports now note that NikeLab 21 Mercer is expected to shut its doors for good come January 2023. Although not much information regarding the space has surfaced, it has been revealed that the closure comes around the end of Nike’s lease of the location. Nike is encouraging staff to continue employment at the company, while activations will move to other locations throughout New York City, digitally, and at select retailers.

For more footwear news, rumors of an Eminem x Carhartt x Nike SB collaboration have surfaced.
