Shanghai Fashion Week Street Style Makes a Vibrant Return for SS23
Featuring vivid patterns and intricate layering.
Shanghai Fashion Week returns in full force to in-person attendance for the most recent Spring/Summer 2023 season. China’s fashion capital saw the hustle and bustle bring out some of the most vibrant outfits from showgoers, injecting a dose of much-needed energy and excitement after a pandemic-ridden year.
As the Fall season nears, attendees are finding ways to stand out and still dress weather appropriately. Gearing up for the cooler months, layering has been an evident choice for most for street style. Focusing on over shirts, jackets and vests to give outfits a sense of depth, it is the vivid color blocking and eye-catching patterns that highlight Shanghai’s streetwear. Branding is subtle with many opting for minimal aesthetics like a casual Balenciaga t-shirt under an all-over print button-up. Monochromatic looks including tailored focused trousers paired with oversized blazers are strong choice amongst attendees.
While tailoring proves to be a popular focus, the streets of Shanghai were filled with those who have paired the casual, sports aesthetic with formalwear, bridging the gap to grow the ever-popular contemporary combination. Relaxed fit Reebok quarter-zip pullovers were paired with oversized trousers while a Craig Green jacket can be used to accentuate the fit. Leather jackets in various silhouettes tied over many outfits, as did unique bag and jewelry accessories.
