Snoop Dogg Announces Upcoming Star-Studded Album and New Def Jam Kids' Record
During an appearance on ‘The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.’
After joining Def Jam Recordings as an executive creative and strategic consultant in June, Snoop Dogg on Monday announced plans for his 19th studio album and the release of a Def Jam kids’ record during an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.
Snoop confirmed that his upcoming album, titled Algorithm, will arrive in November and feature “a lot of big-name acts and some new ones.” The project comes after April’s From Tha Streets 2 Tha Suites and will mark the first time that the rapper has put out two studio albums in the same year.
Snoop then delved into his executive role at Def Jam and announced that the label has “a kids’ album coming out this year, too.”
“I was a fan of Def Jam Records as a kid,” he said. “And knowing the talent that they have over there and the opportunity that was waiting on me, I wanted to go over there and give a lot of opportunity to the artists over there to get some information, some wisdom and some guidance from me and then also develop some new acts and give some opportunity.”
“So Def Jam was the perfect place for me,” he continued. “Considering how much I love it and how much it means to hip-hop and how it really needed somebody like me to change the energy of the building. I’m over there for one reason: to get the music back poppin’ and to make the people feel the way they’re supposed to.”
