Denim Tears Just Released Its Duo of ASICS GEL-MC PLUS Collaborations
Each iteration is inspired by the Harlem, GA’s unpaved, red clay roads that Tremaine Emory would often play on as a child.
Angelo Baque — founder of Awake NY — has called upon Tremaine Emory to participate in ASICS‘ “The ASICS Collective” footwear initiative where he’s been granted the opportunity to apply his creative mind to two takes of the GEL-MC PLUS. This team-up is being filtered with Emory’s Denim Tears imprint and features a duo of colorways including “Brick” and “Cream.”
For this collaboration, the creative consultant wanted to bring a piece of his childhood into this project. If you take a look at both offerings, you’ll notice that the uppers of the “Cream” pair and the midsoles of the “Brick” option have been blemished with “dirty” clay marks. This is a call out to the unpaved, red clay roads that Emory would often play on while he was growing up in Harlem, Georgia. Uppers and midsoles “Cream” pair are done up in its titular shade, the latter of which is complemented with exposed GEL units in orange. The second makeup dials its base layers and treading to a full “Brick” hue. Additionally, the insoles split their branding between a Denim Tears notation on the right shoe and an ASICS logo on the left.
Both pairs are available now on the Denim Tears website alongside the collection’s collaborative tee. The shoes retail for $160 USD while the tee costs $55 USD.
