AS Roma Receives a Special New Balance 997H

Serie A’s 2021-22 season kicked off in recent days, so New Balance has blessed AS Roma with a special 997H. Part of NB’s “Only Roma” campaign — which aims to spotlight how Roma is a “way of life” in Rome and across Italy — the shoe features a club-inspired color scheme, special detailing and more.

AS Roma’s first lifestyle shoe from New Balance, the 997H is an adaptable, stripped-back iteration of the classic 997. Here, the lightweight lifestyle classic is dressed in Roma’s signature red and gold shades across the majority of its mesh-and-suede upper, while contrast is supplied by white detailing on the forefoot, midfoot and quarter panel’s N logo.

The shoe’s most recognizable detail, however, is supplied by the club’s crest, placed in a prominent position on the tongue tag. “La Lupa” graphics are present on the insole to further the shoe’s AS Roma lore. Down below, trim white foam midsoles with a tonal New Balance hit on the medial side round off the look.

In past years, Roma received kits and custom footwear from Nike, but with the club charging into La Liga play as a New Balance squad for the first time ever we’ll likely see more special product over the coming months. Currently, this 997H is not available for sale, but more info on a release may surface soon.
