In an interview earlier this year, Army of the Dead director Zack Snyder told us that he had a great time working with Netflix — which he sees as part of the future of cinema — so it comes as no surprise that the two forces are joining once again to make a sequel for his popular zombie heist film.
The announcement of the sequel comes shortly after an anime spin-off and prequel film named Army of Thieves have already been confirmed by the director and the streaming giant, the latter of which is scheduled to arrive later this year and follows Matthius Schweighöfer’s safecracker character Ludwig Dieter in the early days of the zombie outbreak. As for the sequel itself, Snyder will once again be working with Shay Hatten, the co-writer for the original film.
On top of confirming a sequel for Army of the Dead, a report from The Hollywood Reporter also announced that Netflix has now signed a first-look deal with Snyder’s banner Stone Quarry Productions. “My goal and hope are to bring as much quality content as I can and do it on a giant scale,” the director says of the new partnership. “Big projects and big movies.”
Elsewhere in entertainment, Michaela Coel has reportedly joined the cast of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.
