The Weeknd to Star in and Develop New HBO Cult Drama Series 'The Idol'
Co-creating the upcoming show alongside ‘Euphoria’ creator Sam Levinson and Reza Fahim.

The Weeknd is set to star in and develop the upcoming HBO series, The Idol.
According to reports, the show will follow a female pop singer who gets involved in a romantic relationship with an “enigmatic” L.A. club owner who is also the leader of a secret cult. The Weeknd will join the cast, as well as co-write and executive produce alongside Reza Fahim and Euphoria creator Sam Levinson; the three of them will be named as creators.
The Idol will mark The Weeknd’s first foray into live-action TV after he lent his voice to American Dad! and Robot Chicken. He also played a version of himself in the Safdie Brothers’ 2019 hit Uncut Gems alongside Adam Sandler, LaKeith Stanfield, Julia Fox, Kevin Garnett and Idina Menzel.
Stay tuned for an official trailer and release date for The Idol.
