Watch the Opening Ceremony for Disney's New Avengers Campus in California
Spider-Man, Iron Man, Ant-Man and Doctor Strange will kickstart the party.
Almost two years after its initial announcement, the highly-anticipated Avengers Campus is finally opening at Disney California Adventure Park.
Hosting an opening ceremony for the new theme park attraction on Wednesday (June 2), Disney and Marvel brought in a team of Avengers to celebrate the occasion, along with Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige himself and guest appearances from Ant-Man‘s Paul Rudd, Iron Man director Jon Favreau, and the new Captain America, Anthony Mackie.
As for the campus itself, both Spider-Man and Iron Man will kickstart the party alongside Doctor Strange, Ant-Man and the Wasp, and General Okoye, who’ll lead her Dora Milaje warriors. The park places great emphasis on visitor interactions with the rides and shows, allowing them to influence how different experiences will play out. For example, a new Spider-Man ride will allow fans to sling webs via their own web-shooters in order to control an outburst of self-replicating robot spiders, while Doctor Strange will employ the help of the audience during his magic show to open up a portal and create a shield around the campus. Of course, there’ll also be more heroes joining shortly: Black Widow will take on Taskmaster in an action-packed show next month, no doubt to build anticipation for her upcoming standalone film.
For those hoping to visit, the Avengers Campus at Disney California Adventure Park is opening today.
