Awake NY Teams with Merrell For Nostalgic 1TRL Jungle Moc
A grown-up iteration of a silhouette many a ’90s baby is familiar with.
Angelo Baque‘s Awake NY has worked on collaborative footwear projects with everyone from Reebok to ASICS and Timberland, but now it’s presented its most unexpected shoe yet: an elevated take on Merrell‘s nostalgic 1TRL Jungle Moc. A slip-on style that’s sure to strike a chord with many a ’90s baby, the Jungle Moc stands in stark contrast to Merrell’s most popular current model — the futuristic Hydro Moc — making it an undeniably unique collaborative choice.
Uppers are constructed of a soft, stone-toned nubuck with a debossed Awake NY hit placed on the lateral side directly below the elastic throat. Midsoles and outsoles combine an airy sail shade with a medium gray tinge and a signature oval traction pattern. A finishing touch of detail is provided by rich pops of orange on the sizeable heel tabs and the midsole’s branded hit, a color placement somewhat reminiscent of adidas‘ YEEZY BOOST 350 V2 “TRFRM.”
The Awake NY x Merrell 1TRL Jungle Moc is set to release via the Awake NY webstore and Dover Street Market on June 18.
