Better™ Gift Shop's Salomon Advanced X Ultra 3 GTX Will Take You Anywhere
When you’ve got a hike at eight and a meeting at nine.
Better™ Gift Shop and Salomon Advanced are back together once again, following on from their collaborative Shelter CS WP boot with the all-purpose, go-anywhere X Ultra 3 GTX.
Earth tones drawn from the history books of hiking footwear dominate the collaboration’s entire aesthetic, while more timely pops of color have been added as a lively nod to the playful times we live in with regards to the footwear industry. The result sees a base mesh upper served in brown alongside a dark green and brown overlay on the mid-panel, while touches of blue appear as highlights. Elsewhere, a rubber toe cap is presented in black, complementing the laces and eyestays along the vamp, while more hard-wearing fabrics and mesh tinted in brown appear at the rear alongside a flash of hot pink that’s been used on the heel tab and rear-quarter branding.
Rounding out the shoe’s design is its Contragrip-equipped sole unit that comprises a brown midsole and a black outsole. Altogether, the sneaker aims to take you wherever you want to go, whenever. It reflects Better™ Gift Shop’s surroundings in Toronto, where the team experiences various terrains in a day: from hiking the Niagara escarpment to walking through town or working in the shop, the X Ultra 3 GTX is the right shoe for all occasions.
“Better™ Gift Shop is a brand that was built for the community, by the community,” said Oliver Catahan, Better™ Gift Shop’s General Manager. “With our first Salomon collaboration, we updated their classic hiker silhouette. This time, we’ve put our spin on one of our favorite hiking shoes and more importantly, we’re spotlighting up-and-coming artists that are near and dear to the Better™ Gift Shop family. We wanted to illustrate the true versatility of this shoe by showing people who actually wear our product over the course of their day.”
As a result, Hank Reavis and Noah Trimble will be spotlighted in a documentary airing April 16 on the Better™ Gift Shop Instagram page. The shoe will follow on April 17, dropping at the Better™ Gift Shop store in Toronto and on its website, while Salomon and select Dover Street Market stores like the one in London or Los Angeles will then drop the shoe on April 20.
